Where to Dump Trash in Boise
Every Ada and Canyon County Disposal Site, With the Day Each Was Checked
Treasure Valley Junk Removal keeps one table of where to dump trash: Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Garden City and Kuna loads belong at Ada County's sites, Nampa and Caldwell loads at Canyon County's, and every landfill, transfer station and household hazardous waste drop-off in both counties sits below with its fees, hours and rules copied from the county or city page that publishes them, beside the date that page was read.
The county line decides the gate before anything else
Ada County's fee page states it in one line: "Only waste generated in Ada County is acceptable for disposal at the Ada County Landfill." Canyon County's landfill page answers from the other side of the line: "We accept household waste from Canyon and Owyhee County residents only," with a capital-letter warning on the same page that out-of-county waste will not be accepted without prior approval. A Nampa garage load does not go up Seamans Gulch, and a Boise one does not go out Missouri Avenue.
The two counties also price differently. Ada County's rate is "$15.00 minimum (up to 1,035 lbs.)" and by the ton above that, and the same page says that as of October 1, 2026 the per-ton rate is $34. Canyon County's posted schedule is per ton unless a line says otherwise, with a $15.00 minimum fee. Neither county prices by how much of a pickup bed is full; Ada County's page says all landfill waste must be accepted by weight rather than volume, and Canyon County's tire and refrigerator fees are charged "in addition to your weight."
The sites, as the counties and cities publish them
Eight rows cover the two counties: two landfills, two transfer stations named on city pages, one permanent hazardous waste facility, the Ada County mobile sites, Canyon County's hazardous waste events and Canyon County's free day at its landfill. Each row carries the source page and the day it was read; the source numbers point to the list at the foot of this page.

The mobile hazardous waste calendar, week by week
The City of Boise publishes the Ada County mobile sites as a pattern: the first Tuesday of every month is one place, the second Tuesday another. The pattern below is the City's table as of October 30, 2026; every stop runs 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and takes residents' small loads only. Kuna's own sanitation page names its stop "Bernie Fisher Park the 3rd Wednesday in January, July, and October from 12pm-7pm"; the City of Boise's table lists the same Wednesday at Kuna City Park, 201 W Main St.

What each city's trash service picks up at the curb
Before a load goes anywhere, the city's own contract hauler may take part of it from the curb. The seven cities publish very different rules, and two of them publish none at all. Each line below is what the city's page says on October 30, 2026, nothing more.
| City | Curbside bulky item rule, as the city states it | Refrigerant appliances | Who schedules it | Source, day read |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Boise | "Bulky items will be collected throughout the year upon customer request. Bulky items must be placed at the curb or in the alley for pick-up." Furniture, appliances and miscellaneous items such as carpet, grills, lawnmowers, water softeners and swamp coolers. The page names no fee and no yearly limit. | Taken: "After the items are collected, Freon is safely removed (if present) and appliances are recycled. Appliances must be empty." | Republic Services, (208) 345-1266 | S10 |
| Meridian | "10 free bulky item pickups per calendar year (limitations apply)" for single-family households with Republic Services cart service. "Excluding appliances and furniture, bulky items may not weigh more than 60 lbs." Not taken: hot tubs, pianos, tires, construction and demolition debris, business waste, electronics, bathtubs, boats, fence posts, windows and mirrors over 4 feet. | "Refrigerant-containing appliance (e.g., refrigerators, A/C units) removal rate of $77.36 per item," added to the utility bill. | Online form or Republic Services, 208-345-1265; items out by 6 AM on the normal service day | S8 |
| Nampa | No year-round bulky item rule was found on the City of Nampa's site on October 30, 2026. The City's Waste Disposal Guide, dated October 30, 2024, covers hazardous and electronic waste and says "Pickle Butte Sanitary Landfill hosts a quarterly collection event for HHW and electronic waste disposal." | Not published in the guide. | Not published. | S11 |
| Caldwell | The trash handbook on the City's site: "Appliance, furniture and other large item collection is available year-round for an additional fee." "Large items (not fitting in your trash cart) must be scheduled ahead of time by contacting Republic Services." Carpet to 4 rolls; branches in tied bundles of 4 feet and under 30 pounds, 4 bundles. The fee amount is not printed. | "Appliances must be empty." "After the items are collected, Freon is safely removed (if present) and appliances are recycled." | Republic Services, 208.345.1265 | S12 |
| Eagle | The Hardin Sanitation fee schedule on the City's site (Resolution 23-06, effective March 1, 2023) lists "Appliance/Bulky Items Hauling" at $35.00 each. | "Appliance with Freon" at $60.00 each, on the same schedule. | Hardin Sanitation; the schedule gives no phone | S13 |
| Kuna | The City's sanitation page, for J&M Sanitation: "Anything that does not fit into your trash cart please call to schedule a large item pick up." No fee is printed. | Not taken: "J&M does NOT accept: Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and water coolers which contain ozone depleting refrigerants (CFCs / Freon) that must be removed by a certified professional." | J&M Sanitation, 208-922-3313 | S14 |
| Garden City | The City's Trash and Recycling page publishes no bulky item rule of its own; it links to Republic Services' handbook and sends hazardous waste to the Ada County facility: "Larger loads or clean-out quantities must be taken directly to this facility." | Not published on the City's page. | Not published on the City's page. | S15 |
The gate fee next to a hauler's price, in dollars
With the schedules above, a self-haul can be costed to the dollar. A pickup bed of garage junk under 1,035 pounds pays Ada County $15.00, or $17.00 on a card because of the $2 fee under $80; a refrigerator in the same load adds $25.75 and each tire $5.25. The same bed at Pickles Butte pays $18.50 a ton with a $15.00 minimum, $20.00 for the refrigerator, $4.00 a tire and $35.00 for a mattress, and $50.00 more if the load is not covered. Those are the whole gate bill; the truck, the fuel, the lifting and the hours are yours.
A hauled load through this site is priced from the public chart on the Boise junk removal price sheet: a single item $75 to $150, a minimum load $99 to $150 and typically about $119, a full truck $450 to $600, a mattress $75 to $120, a refrigerator $85 to $140, with loading, the drive and every disposal fee above inside the number. The difference between $17 and $119 is what one independent hauler charges to bring the truck, carry the pile out and sort it, and the city rows show the third option: Boise's request pickup names no fee, Meridian gives ten free a year and charges $77.36 for a refrigerator, and the hauler schedule on Eagle's site lists $35.00 for a bulky item and $60.00 for one with Freon.
Words you will meet at the scale house
- Tipping fee. The charge for unloading, called "Tipping Fees" on Canyon County's schedule and the "General Trash Disposal Rate" on Ada County's. Both counties set it by weight: Ada County's page says landfill waste "must be accepted by weight rather than volume," and Canyon County's schedule is per ton.
- Scale house. Where a vehicle is weighed in and out; Pickles Butte's is reached at 208-466-7288, extension 224. Ada County puts its hazardous waste building at "first building on the left before the scale house."
- Hard-to-Handle fee. Ada County's name, from October 1, 2026, for a $50 per ton charge on bulky items and loads needing special processing: biosolids, dead animals, stumps and logs over 18 inches across, medical waste, mobile homes, camper trailers. Canyon County prints a separate "Hard to Handle Fees" column with a minimum per ton for each item, mattresses at $35.00.
- Recovery and Diversion Area. The part of the Ada County Landfill "past the scales" where scrap metal and other recoverable material is set aside for recycling; mattress frames go there even though the mattress itself is landfilled.
- Refrigerant fee. Ada County's "Due to the handling of Freon gas and other refrigerants" charge, $25.75 per unit from October 1, 2026; Canyon County's $20.00 per unit. Kuna's hauler will not take a refrigerant appliance at the curb at all, and Meridian's charges $77.36 to.
- Very small quantity generator. A business making under 220 pounds of hazardous waste a month, which both counties let into their hazardous waste programs by appointment and for a fee; the Ada County facility takes them on Fridays at (208) 577-4737.
- Covered load. Pickles Butte's sign reads "Loads must be covered and/or secured," and its schedule charges $50.00 for an uncovered one.
When a county changes a rate, the county's page is right and this one is behind until it is read again; Ada County's last change took effect on October 1, 2026, and Canyon County had not posted its 2027 Free Day on the day this table was built. The sources below carry the day each was read so that anyone can check a row against its page.
