Dump Run Cost in Boise
Your Own Pickup, or a Load Someone Else Hauls
Treasure Valley Junk Removal sets the question of how much is a dump run beside the price of a hauled load, so you can choose between loading your own truck or trailer for the county scale and handing the whole pile to one independent hauler.

How much is a dump run once you add everything up
The gate fee is the part people ask about, and it is rarely the biggest part. Ada County charges by weight at the scale, and its current rates sit on the county's own landfill fee page; read it the week you go, because the county sets those rates and has raised them before. Around that fee sits the real bill: a pickup or trailer, borrowed, rented or yours; fuel for the drive to the landfill and back; straps and a tarp; a second person for anything heavier than a kitchen chair; and the hours spent loading, waiting in line and unloading by hand.
Ada County or Canyon County: where a load is allowed to go
Where you live decides the gate. On the Ada County side, household loads go to the Ada County Landfill or a transfer station. Meridian spells it out: the city's trash page says trash has to go through Republic Services or to the Ada County Landfill. West of the county line, 15500 Missouri Avenue, Nampa, is Canyon County's Pickles Butte landfill, and the county's solid waste rules decide who may use that landfill and how a load has to arrive, so read them before pointing a trailer west. A Boise household with a trailer of garage junk belongs on the Ada County side. The addresses, posted fees and hours of every Ada and Canyon County disposal site are on one page, each with the day its source was read.
What stays out of any pickup bed headed to the scale
Hauling it yourself does not get around the rules a hauler follows. Leftover paint, stains and solvents belong with Ada County's household hazardous waste collection at the landfill rather than in a load of trash. Tile, insulation or siding from an older house that might hold asbestos needs licensed abatement, not a tailgate. Mattresses and anything with refrigerant, a freezer or an old window unit, carry their own disposal fees in both counties, and a certified facility must pull the refrigerant before the metal can be recycled.
A dump run next to a hauled load
| Your own dump run | A hauled load | |
|---|---|---|
| Who lifts it | You, plus whoever you can recruit | The hauler, from wherever the pile sits |
| Vehicle | Your truck or trailer, or a rental | The hauler's |
| Disposal charge | Paid at the scale by weight | Inside the price |
| Donations and scrap | Separate stops you drive yourself | Split out before the landfill |
| Price | Scale fee, fuel, any rental, your time | $99–$150 minimum up to $450–$600 a full truck |
| Your time | A morning or a whole Saturday | As long as it takes to point |
When hauling it yourself is the right call
Be honest with the pile. If it is one load, it already sits in the garage, you own the truck, and nothing in it is heavy enough to hurt someone, a dump run is cheap and perfectly sensible. Broken fence boards and a few bags from a clean-up weekend: take them yourself. The math tilts the other way when the load is spread through a house, when it includes a sleeper sofa up a flight of stairs or an appliance whose refrigerant needs handling, when a closing date is fixed, or when the trip would mean renting the truck in the first place.
What paying for the haul covers
A hauled load costs according to how much truck space it takes, and the price you approve includes the loading, the drive, the disposal and the sort. You can check what a hauled load costs on the Boise junk removal price sheet before calling anyone. Each request made here goes to one independent hauler in the valley, who confirms the number before lifting anything. Heavy material such as concrete or dirt is priced by weight rather than volume, and bigger jobs have their own pages for remodel and yard debris hauling and hot tub cut-out and removal. Call (208) 591-8785 or send photos of the pile.
